content on engineering ethics and social context is interesting in theory but the execution divides students. computing majors taking it as a core subject consistently find it the least relevant subject in their timetable

assessments are essay and report-based which is a format shift for students from maths and science backgrounds. the marking criteria is vague enough that attending tutorials and asking directly about expectations is genuinely important

workload is manageable compared to technical subjects but the disconnect from hands-on engineering frustrates some students. going in with an open mind rather than resenting the subject makes a meaningful difference to what you get out of it
